• 2022년 3월 8일, 미국 특허상표청(USPTO)은 ‘세계 여성의 날’을 맞아 20개 이상의 글로벌 지식재산청¹⁾과 공동으로 지속 가능한 내일을 위한 양성평등을 주제로 공동성명을 발표함

- (개요) 3월 8일은 ‘세계 여성의 날’로 USPTO는 전 세계 20여개 지식재산청과 공동으로 혁신에 있어서 여성 역할의 중요성 및 참여 확대를 강조하는 공동성명을 공유함  

- (주요내용) USPTO와 글로벌 지식재산청 공동성명의 주요내용은 다음과 같음 
∙ 올해 세계 여성의 날 테마는 ‘지속 가능한 내일을 위한 양성평등’으로, 동 성명은 보다 지속 가능하고 희망찬 미래를 위해 혁신과 창조적인 IP 분야에서 여성 지원의 중요성과 더 나은 내일을 위한 여성 참여의 확대를 강조함
∙ 현재 많은 국가들의 지식재산 체계에서 여성들이 과소평가됨에 따라 전 세계의 특허, 상표 및 저작권 사무소들은 모든 성별의 혁신가 및 창작자들을 위한 서비스를 제공하고 IP 시스템을 탐색하고 접근할 수 있도록 지원하고 있음
∙ 혁신과 창의성을 바탕으로 한 IP 분야에서의 양성평등 실현은 우리 사회의 양성평등을 위한 노력을 반영하고 있으며, 이것은 지속가능하고 건강한 균형 잡힌 사회로 우리를 이끌어 모두의 삶을 더욱 풍요롭게 할 것임
