□ 영국특허청은 2009년 1월 17일부터 18일까지 두 개의 새로운 특허 데이터베이스를 런칭함. 하나는 영국에서 실시되고 있는 라이선싱 가능한 모든 특허를 포함하며, 다른 하나는 더 이상 영국에서 보호 받지 못하는(유효하지 않은) 특허를 포함함. 두 데이터베이스는 기업들이 찾을 수 없었던 새로운 비즈니스를 착안하는 기회를 줄 것임

□ 특허부 디렉터인 션 데니헤이(Sean Dennehey)는 서로 다른 2개의 신규 무료 데이터베이스를 공개하는 것은 고어스 리뷰(Gowers Review)에서 제안*된 것으로, 영국 내에서 비즈니스를 활성화 하는데 이용되도록 희망한다고 함

□ 데이터베이스는 영국특허청 홈페이지의 e-Patents Journal 디자인을 기반으로 만들어졌으며 매주 업데이트 될 것임

□ 서치 가능한 데이터는 특허 등록부로부터 제공되며, 등록부 및 esp@cenet(특허 전문을 볼 수 있는 데이터베이스 서비스 홈페이지)의 링크로도 다시 연결됨

  - Recommendation 30a : The Patent Office should publish and maintain an open standards web database, linked to the EPO’s esp@cenet web database, containing all patents issued under licence of right.
  - Recommendation 30b : The Patent Office should publish and maintain an open standards web database, linked to esp@cenet containing all expired patents.
